My new novel Tell And You Die has made it into the world at last!
Tell And You Die, a crime mystery for young adults, is my fourth novel to be published with Authors Reach, which has been my writerly home for three years now.
Here’s a bit about the story:
A brother’s life cut short. A sister with secrets.
After sixteen-year-old Rose’s adored brother Will is killed in an explosion on a boat, she’s just as keen as her family to make a fresh start in the village where her father grew up. She hopes the move will bring her closer to her older sister, Lily, with whom her relationship has always been difficult. But then a mysterious man from Lily’s past enters their lives, and Rose realises the nightmare has only just begun.
When disaster strikes for the second time, Rose finds herself in a dark, dangerous place, where she must confront her deepest fears. What does her sister know about Will’s death? And is Rose being tricked, or is her brother really sending ghostly warnings from beyond the grave?

My new book is suitable for readers of thirteen and above, but could be enjoyed by adults of any age, particularly fans of Holly Jackson, Karen McManus and Sophie McKenzie. Like my previous novels, it’s set in my home county of Cornwall, a county which never fails to inspire me. The original ideas and characters came to me way back in 2017, after my husband and I moved to my childhood Cornish village with the aim of helping to build our own house. Although the house did eventually get built, it was a stressful, uncertain time, as anyone who has done anything similar will confirm!
We lived in a caravan onsite (lovely in the summer, not so nice in the icy depths of winter) and I had a quirky little Mini-Me caravan as my ‘office’. I have bittersweet memories of helping to dig foundations, fit insulation or slate the roof, then, in an abrupt change of scene, escaping into the fictional world of Rose, Lily and Dorian. Though Tell And You Die is rather darker and edgier than my previous novels, it certainly helped to keep me sane!
